Take Control of Your Web Site
To be very blunt web sites tend to create dependency on service provider.
You have to register your domain name, purchase web space and get them renewed year after year. There is no way that you can be ‘independent’ in these basics.
Then your web site has to be created. You can create your web site through several online tools, which you can find on Internet. These, however, have their limits as they are quite rigid and limited in functionalities. You get your web site designed from the service provider. So far so good.
But one fine morning, say after three or four months after the launch of your web site, you find that there is a silly spelling mistake in some write up in your web site. You wanted to correct that mistake, but are handicapped. You write a mail to your service provider, or ring him, for correction. And he takes his own time to oblige you.
The big question now is if you can write a mail to your service provider, why you cannot correct the mistake. You can of course do if your web site is on some of the CMS. Increasing number of organisations and individuals are opting for CMS web sites.
We provide web sites based on three CMSs: Joomla, WordPress and WebsiteBaker.
Brief Features
- Joomla is one of the most widely used CMS. It is very versatile in the sense that you can do almost everything that is possible and not too difficult to learn.
- WordPress is basically a blogging platform, but is increasingly used for making web sites. It is relatively easier to learn, but at the same time less versatile too.
- WebsiteBaker is probably the easiest CMS available. The learning curve is almost like a straight line. But it is very straight jacket and functionalities are severely limited.
Caution
A decision about the CMS to be used for building the web site has to be taken beforehand. Work once initiated or completed in one CMS cannot be converted into another CMS and a new web site has to be made from scratch.
